About the place -
Mahuli Fort at 2815 ft above msl, is the highest point in Thane district and a popular trekking destination surrounded by thick deciduous forest which is declared as a sanctuary. This mountain complex is a group of two or more hills with common cols and pinnacles with interesting names like Vazir, Vishnu, Bhatoba, Navra, Navri etc. and is known as a paradise for rock climbers.
There is a Shiva Temple, Water cisterns, three caves and an arch of Kalyan Darwaja are few remains of monuments to see on the top of the fort.
Shahaji Maharaj, father of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, occupied this fortress. The fort has been declared as a protected monument.
- Meet at Sanjay Gandhi National Park gate at Borivali at 5:00 am sharp
- Travel by private non-AC vehicle till base village
- Pick up on the way at Goregaon, Andheri, Bandra, Sion, Ghatkopar, Thane
- Breakfast and Tea in the base village
- Introduction and instructions
- Start the trek by 9:30 am
- Reach top of Mahuli by 12:30 pm
- Explore the fort and have lunch
- Start descending by 2 pm
- Reach base village by 5 pm
- Evening Snacks and Tea
- Reach Borivali, Mumbai by 9:30 pm (Tentative)

- Consumption of alcohol, smoking, drugs, narcotics is strictly not allowed and would lead to expulsion from the trek.
- Leader's decision will be final and binding to all members. No arguments will be entertained.
- Each member is responsible for their own safety and baggage.
- Please do not wear any jewellery or gold ornaments.
- Please do not litter. Do not throw plastic, paper, wrappers, bottles etc. Carry them home to throw in the dustbin.
- We strongly believe in saying - Wherever we go, leave only footprints and take back only memories.
Hiking / Trekking / Rock climbing is an adventurous activity and accidents can happen in spite of taking utmost caution and care. The organization will not be responsible for any injury / accident / death to the participant while on trek.
