About the place -

The Little Rann contains one of the country's largest wildlife reserves, the Wild Ass Sanctuary, where the topography varies from large marshlands to brown-grey patches of soil with a few small thorny shrubs. The word 'rann' means salty desert and is spread out over 5,000sqkm. 
The Wild Ass Sanctuary is one of the few places to spot the ghudkar or Indian wild ass. Other species that one can spot here include the desert fox, jungle cat, desert cat, jackal, hyena, Nilgai and several species of resident and migratory birds including Flamingos, Ducks, Geese, Owls, Sand Grouse, Macqueens Bustard, Sykes Nightjars, Larks, Cranes (Domoiselle, Common and Saras) and Harrier etc. Since there are no bushes or trees for animals to hide behind, they are easy to spot during jeep safaris.

Plan:


Thursday - 

  • Bandra Terminus to Ahmedabad by 22951 Gandhidham Express at 11:50 pm

Friday -

  • Reach Ahmedabad by 8:00 am, Breakfast
  • Transfer to LRK, Check in to the hotel, freshen up
  • Short introduction about LRK
  • Walk around resort for bird watching and photography
  • Post lunch ride in the runn for Birdwatching and Photography
  • Discussion on wildlife, Dinner and retire for the day

Saturday -

  • Wake up early, freshen up
  • Morning ride in the rann for Wetland Birding and Photography
  • Breakfast, Rest, Birding in the resort premises
  • Lunch, Rest, Afternoon ride in rann for Birding and Photography
  • Camp fire, Dinner and retire for the day

Sunday -

  • Wake up early, freshen up
  • Morning ride in the rann for birding and wildlife photography
  • Check out of the resort
  • Transfer to Ahmedabad private vehicle
  • Train journey to Mumbai by 22928 Lok Shakti Express at 9:00 pm
  • If train tickets are not available, travel by Bus
  • Alternatively you can take a flight from Ahmedabad

Monday -

  • Reach Mumbai by 6:30 am

Tour cost is Rs 18,250/- only (Ex Ahmedabad)

Rules to be followed
Few rules we would like people follow - 


  • Respect Forest Guides and gypsy drivers and follow their instructions.
  • Do not disturb wildlife just to get good photographs.
  • Making loud noise and playing music in the forest / wildlife habitat is not allowed.
  • Do not try to touch or feed wild animals / birds.
  • Keep safe distance from the wild animals and keep them their space.
  • Do not use camera flash while clicking photographs of wild animals and birds.
  • Do not litter. Keep the area clean. Carry chocolate wrappers, plastic covers, paper and other waste with you and dump it in the dustbin.
