About the place -

Amboli is a small hill-station nestled in the western ghats at the height of 710 meters above the sea level. This hill station in Sindhudurga district is known as 'Cheerapunji of Maharashtra'. Its one of the cleanest and greenest hill stations for the wildlife. A dream destination for Naturalists, Amboli literally blossoms in the monsoon. A walk on green misty trails, beautiful scenery, waterfalls, a loads of biodiversity and delicious konkani food makes it a perfect location for a short trip.

The main focus of our trip would be watching herpatofauna. The walk to the Mahadevgad, Parikshit Point, Chaukul Rasta and Botanical Garden offer fantastic opportunity to explore the forest which is extremly rich in herpetofauna, wildflowers and birds.

The star attraction here are Reptiles like Malabar Pit Viper, Green Vine  Snake, Olive Forest snake, Banded Racer, Beddome's Keelback, Shieldtail Snake, Deccan Banded Gecko, Bombay Leaf-toed Gecko etc. and Amphibians like Malabar Gliding Frog, Amboli Bush frog, Beddome's burrowing frog, Criket frog, Fungoid frog, Tiger Toad  and the Caecilians etc.
