About the place -

Satpura Tiger Reserve is located in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh and derived its name from Satpura mountain range. The Satpura range rises in eastern Gujarat state running east through the border of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh to the east till Chhattisgarh. The Satpura Tiger Reserve was declared in 1981 and covers an area of 524 sq km but along with Bori and Pachmarhi wildlife sanctuary, the total area is 2200 sq km. The terrain of the national park is extremely rugged and consists of sandstone peaks, narrow gorges, ravines and dense forests.

Satpura Tiger Reserve is a part of a rich Central Indian forest ecosystem thus quite rich in biodiversity. It has over 1300 species of plants which include more than 92 tree species, 58 shrubs species,32 climber species and almost 64 grass species with important medicinal plants and endemic rare herbs. The fauna of Satpura National Park is a stunning jungle treat for wildlife enthusiasts and about 50 species of mammals, 254 species of birds, 30 species of reptiles, 50 species of butterflies are found here. The animals here include Tiger, Leopard, Sloth Bear, Wild Dogs, Indian Gaur, Sambar, Cheetal, Indian muntjac, Nilgai, Wild boar, porcupine, Indian Marsh Crocodile, Flying squirrel and Indian giant squirrel.

  • Back to the resort and freshen up
  • Have tea and rest

  • Wake up early by 5:00 am and have tea
  • Morning jungle safari from 6:30 Hrs to 11:00 Hrs
  • Back to the resort and freshen up
  • Have lunch and check out from the resort
  • Transfer to Itarsi Jn Railway Station
  • Travel by 12138, Punjab Mail from Itarsi Jn at 18:50 Hrs

Rules to be followed
Few rules we would like people follow - 

  • Respect Forest Guides and gypsy drivers and follow their instructions.
  • Do not get down from your gypsy inside the reserved forest.
  • Making loud noise and playing music in the forest is not allowed.
  • Do not try to touch or feed wild animals.
  • Keep safe distance from the wild animals and keep them their space.
  • Do not use camera flash while clicking photographs of wild animals and birds.
  • Do not litter. Keep the area clean. Carry chocolate wrappers, plastic covers, paper and other waste with you and dump it in the dustbin.
