About the place -

Bera is the small hamlet surrounded by lakes and dams. One of them is Jawai Dam, situated near Sumerpur of Pali District of Rajasthan. It is the biggest man-made dam of western Rajasthan. Aravalli Range runs diagonally across the state and the southern part of the range is formed by granite. Bera Region lies between Kumbalgarh National Park and Mt Abu Sanctuary. These large granite formations are scattered with Anogeissus scrub, and rocky dry river beds. The area is inhabited by Rabari Tribe (The Shepherds/Herdsmen).

The leopards of Bera have accepted this rocky terrain as a part of their habitat and a healthy population of 50 to 60 leopards are found in Bera - Jawai region. It is the most incredible sight to see villagers at prayer and leopards sitting quite calmly and watching the ceremonies. Apart from Leopard one can also sight Chinkara, Jackal, Indian Wolf, Sloth Bear, Pythons, Jungle Cat, Desert Cat, Striped Hyena, Blue Bulls and a Caracal being very very rare.
