About the place -

Located at an altitude of 12,000 ft, Har Ki Dun Trek is one of the most mesmerizing valleys in the Garhwal Himalayas.This valley is surrounded by Alpine vgetation & is rich in flora & fauna. An appealing view of the Laundhar glacier, as well as the surrounding Swargarohini group of peaks makes your trek exciting and thrilling. one can see The state bird of Uttarakhand named Himalayan Monal and several other animals in the forest region during the trek. Not only this, but valley also offers stunning views of Jaundhar Glacier, Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini Peaks I & II as well as the Black peak that are definitely a treat to your eyes.


Tour Itinerary

Itinerary -

Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Sankri (6-8hrs)

We leave Dehradun early in the morning and drive to our Base Village Sankri which is about 220 kms & at 10hrs distance from Dehradun city. As scenic route to the village is all we city people crave for. After crossing the "queen of Hills Mussoori you will find Pine forest at both the sides of the road accomapanying you throughtout. Breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the pictursque route. Driving about one hour we will halt at Purola for Lunch. Wind up your important calls or any work beacause here after the netwok will get fuzzy.ATM is available & one can withdraw the cash here. 

Sankri is a small village which serves as a base village to the many Himalayn treks. one can get a beautiful view of Mt. Swargarohini from here. at about 6 in the evening we may recah Sankari. Will check in to Homestay, freshen up.One can choose to rest or explore the village market around. Have dinner & get ready for the trek to start next morning. 

Day 2: From Sankri to Pauni Garaat (5-6hrs)

We start drive early in the morning at about 6.30 towards Taluka. It is at a distance of 1 hr. This short drive will take you t hrough the dense forest. After reaching Taluka, will start our actual trek via descending to the banks of river Tons.at around 10 mints of walk there is a cemented bridge on the river. Cross the bridge & reach another wooden bridge at aprox 15 mints of distance. there is path going down towards the water. one can get their water bottles filled here. On the way you may find Orchids & some Himalayan Wildlife too.

Walking along the river gives an outstanding views. We wWill have lunch on the way. after about 6 hrs of walking we are at Pauni Garaat. Our campsite for the day! Rest for sometime and enjoy your evening around. End you way with local flavoured dinner.

Day 3: From Pauni Garaat to Kalkatiadhar (3-4hrs)

After breakfast head towards next campsite at Kalktiadhar via Osla.It is about 8kms of disatance which takes 5-6 hrs. Go slowly & steadily. Osla is a small village in Himalaya. From Osla the trail is little steep which gives you glimpses of Dhauladhar range

Start the day by driving up to Osla village. Lunch on the way. Proceed further to Kalkatiadhar. It is a beautiful meadow which gives yu views of Bugyal Devsu & Mt. Black Peak.Take into the amazing views, rest well & prepare for the summit on next Day. retire for the day after dinner.


Day 4: From Kalkatidhar to Har Ki Doon and MarindaTal and return back

This is our Summit Day. We will start early than the other days as this will be the longest day of trekking. The train is mixed of steep & moderate acsent until the Har ki doon Valley. You will see forzen waterfalls. This valley is full of meadows, frozen streams, breathtaking views. The last patch of the trek climbs alongside river through dense forest until the Har ki doon Summit. Explore sometime and we head ahead to Marinda tal. a brief excursion there an dwe are returning back to Kalkatiadhar campsite.Rest for the day. 

Day 5: From Kalkatidhar to Puani Garaat

After breakfast we will be returing back to Pauni Garaat via Osla Village. relive the beauty going back, chit chat with Villagers on the way and enjoy the views you get. Follow the same trail as earlier and reach the camp site of Pauni Garaat. It is an easy journey as we are climbing down the hill,Slowly & gradually. rest after recahing the campsite. 

Day 6: From Pauni Garaat  to Sankri (4-5hrs)

After breakfast we start our descend towards Taluka on the same trail. Walk along the left bank of the River Supin until we reach Taluka.

We board a car to return to Sankri. Retire for the day to a riverside tent or a guest home in Sankri.

Day 7: From Sankri to Dehradun (7-8hrs)

Will leave Sankri after breakfast.We bid adieu to the mountains,to the place & people until next time. The Journey concludes with a full day journey to Dehradun. We will have our lunch on the way. Har ki doon trek comes to an end. 

Reach Dehradun by 6 in the Evening.

Cost of the Trek is Rs. 14,500/-(Ex- Dehradun)


Inclusions:

  • Surface transfer to & from Dehradun

  • Any kind of personal expenses.
  • Air/ Train fare to Dehradun
  • Food during the road journey
  • Any kind of Insurance
  • Any additional expenses caused due to reasons beyond our control such as Natural calamities (Landslide, Floods etc), political unrest, any accident, riots, strikes etc.
  • Those who drop in the middle of the trek & decides to return for any reason, will have to bear the cost of transportation, stay & food etc
  • Anything which is not mentioned under the inclusions.

  • Haversack / Backpack (50-60 Ltrs) with Rain Cover
  • Day pack (20-30 Ltrs) with rain cover (If hire a mule or porter)
  • Walking stick
  • Head torch with extra batteries
  • Water bottle/Hydration pack 2 bottles of one liter each
  • Carry at least one thermas flask
  • Snacks, Energy bars, dry fruits, Electral / ORS
  • Personal Medicines required if any
  • T-shirts 2 Full sleeves (Avoid cotton T shirts)
  • Fleece T-shirts 1 Nos.
  • Fleece jacket (Alternative: a woolen sweater)
  • Down feather jacket
  • Wind & waterproof jacket & pant

Rules to be followed
Few Rules we would like people follow -


  • Consumption of alcohol, smoking, drugs, narcotics is strictly not allowed and would lead to expulsion from the trek.
  • Leader's decision will be final and binding to all members. No arguments will be entertained.
  • Each member is responsible for their own safety and baggage.
  • Please do not wear any jewellery or gold ornaments.
  • Please do not litter. Do not throw plastic, paper, wrappers, bottles etc. Carry them home to throw in the dustbin.
  • We strongly believe in saying - Wherever we go, leave only footprints and take back only memories.

All travelers are advised to purchase travel insurance that provide care and services for sickness, Accidents, emergency rescue, ted. Related to international travel. Any organizer of Owlet Outdoors shall not be responsible for the loss of personal assets and belongings of the travelers due to unavoidable reason or mishap.

Caution & Remarks :
Even though participants do not need to submit any health certificates those with a history of medical problems, particularly cardiac or respiratory, should consult a doctor before deciding to undertake the trip.
Carry appropriate substitution drugs for individuals allergic to any of above
Avoid medication such as sleeping tablets, sedatives, strong painkillers, and anti histamines which depress the respiration and increase the risk of (AMS-Active Mountain Sickness) especially while sleeping.
