About the place -

Asava is situated near Boisar in Palghar district and is usrrounded by the dense forest.  In ancient times, ports like Shoorparak, Dahanu, Tarapur, Shreesthanak (Thane), Kaliyan(Kalyan) etc; were doing brisk trade on a massive scale with other countries. The goods offloaded at these ports used to be get distributed countrywide by different routes. Forts were built to overlook the safety of these routes. The Asava fort is one of such forts that was built in ancient times to oversee the route connecting the country to the ports of Dahanu and Tarapur. Climbing this old fort is not only easy; but the path through dense forest to the fort; makes it a very refreshing one day trek. Rock cut water cisterns, fortification walls, remains of settlements and natural cave can be seen on top.


Tour Itinerary

Itinerary - 

  • Travel to Boisar by local train (Starts from Churchgate at 5:17 am)
  • Reach Boisar by 7:30 am and have Breakfast
  • Travel to base village by private vehicle
  • Reach the base village by 9:00 am
  • Introduction and instructions
  • Start the Trek by 9:30 am
  • Reach the top by 11:30 am
  • Explore the fort and have lunch (Carry your own)
  • Start descend by 1:30 pm
  • Reach base village by 3:30 pm
  • Travel to Boisar and reach by 4:00 pm
  • Snacks and Tea 
    Board the train from Boisar to Mumbai
  • Reach Mumbai by 7:00 pm (Tentative)

Rules to be followed
Few Rules we would like people follow -

  • Consumption of alcohol, smoking, drugs, narcotics is strictly not allowed and would lead to expulsion from the trek.
  • Leader's decision will be final and binding to all members. No arguments will be entertained.
  • Each member is responsible for their own safety and baggage.
  • Please do not wear any jewellery or gold ornaments.
  • Please do not litter. Do not throw plastic, paper, wrappers, bottles etc. Carry them home to throw in the dustbin.
  • We strongly believe in saying - Wherever we go, leave only footprints and take back only memories.
Other Info
It is advisable to wear full sleeve clothes and comfortable trekking shoes.

Hiking / Trekking / Rock climbing is an adventurous activity and accidents can happen in spite of taking utmost caution and care. The organization will not be responsible for any injury / accident / death to the participant while on trek.
