- Gwalior Fort: A majestic hilltop fortress in Madhya Pradesh, India, is renowned for its historical significance and architectural splendor. Built in the 8th century and expanded over the centuries, the fort features a blend of Hindu, Jain, and Mughal styles. Key highlights include the ornate Man Mandir Palace, ancient Jain cave temples with intricate carvings, and the impressive fortifications offering panoramic views. With its rich history and striking design, Gwalior Fort stands as a testament to India’s architectural and cultural heritage.
- Jai Vilas Palace: Located in Gwalior, is a stunning example of 19th-century opulence and grandeur. Built by Maharaja Jayajirao Scindia in the 1800s, this palace serves as the residence of the Scindia family and is renowned for its architectural splendor and lavish interiors. Parts of the palace are open to the public as a museum, offering a glimpse into the royal lifestyle and history of the Scindia dynasty.
- Siddhachal Caves: These are Jain cave monuments and statues carved on the northern slopes of Gwalior Fort hill. There are the most visited among the five groups of Jain rock carvings on the Gwalior Fort hill. They were built over time starting in the 7th-century, but most are dated to the 15th-century CE. The statues depict all 24 Tirthankaras. They are shown in both seated Padmasana posture as well as standing Kayotsarga posture, in the typical naked form of Jain iconography. Many of the statues were defaced and destroyed under the orders of the Muslim Emperor Babur of the Mughal Dynasty in the 16th century, while a few repaired and restored after the fall of the Mughal dynasty and through the late 19th century.
- Mitaoli: The Chausath Yogini Temple, Mitaoli, also known as Ekattarso Mahadeva Temple, is an 11th-century temple in Morena district in Madhya Pradesh. Built during Kachchhapaghata reign, it is one of the well-preserved Yogini temples in India. The temple is formed by a circular wall with 65 chambers, apparently for 64 yoginis and the goddess Devi, and an open mandapa in the centre of a circular courtyard, sacred to Shiva. It is said that the temple was the venue of providing education in astrology and mathematics based on the transit of the Sun.
